Hello, We recently purchased 3 small "nippon" bowls on e-bay. We've been collecting nippon for about 6 months and have purchased 2 dozen or more pieces and have had the opportunity to view many others. The mark on these bowls is blue and shows a crown in the center with a small star on either side. The top of the mark reads "HAND PAINTED" and the bottom reads "NIPPON". A quick glance at the mark makes it extremely clear that the mark is not under the porcelain, but is applied. The piece appears to be hand painted, but the porcelain is of poor quality with lots of dimples and rough areas. Is it possible that these pieces are genuine nippon?
